What I am about to share with you…isn’t exactly spelled out in the Bible.
And I’ve had some interesting view points that have tried to contradict it.
However, not only have I not wavered over the last 25 years…I have grown more firm in my beliefs!
And in the end…after living 53 years (closing in on 54 in 2 days…)…I believe this model and framework to be true.
I believe our lives are best lived focused upon the “4F’s”:
Faith
Family
Fitness
Finances
And…In that order!
I was recently chatting with somebody on X who thinks that the order is:
Faith, Fitness, Family, and Finances.
He says…if you aren’t physically fit, then you cannot serve your family as well as you need to as a man.
I…1000%…emphatically…
Disagree!
I have 30 years of marriage. 4 kids who exceed my beliefs… and a life of faith, family, fitness, and finances…that will accept your challenge.
For example:
If you have only 1 hour left in your chaotic busy day…And if you had the choice between attending your child’s “end of the year” 6th grade chorus concert, or getting your 1 hour workout in at the gym…
Which would you choose??
HINT: If you chose going to the gym, then you absolutely need to stay subscribed to my newsletter because you missed out on one of the life’s key moments.
Your child was sitting on stage with their trumpet in their hands…surveying out across those in attendance and wanting to see…one thing…YOU.
Your kid wanted to see YOU watching them perform all of their awkward missed notes, placing 3 fingers on one set of holes, while bumbling through the pages of their booklets.
Those moments add up.
And those moments are worth far more than a missed work out.
We’ll continue to explore this over the months, but you must trust me on this…
I have lived and built my life on these principles. Very imperfectly I might add! But I try.
I’ve also heard other people say my framework of the 4F’s isn’t right because it’s “Faith above all else” and that’s the only thing that matters.
They usually say it very righteously…clutching their hand to their chest with pride…
I’ll leave you with these questions:
Have you ever met an obese preacher who doesn’t care about their physical health?
Have you ever met a preacher whose kids exercise every sin in the playbook? (Sometimes I think maybe they are striving to experience more forgiveness!! (Reference to Paul’s words in Romans 6:1 haha)
Have you ever met a preacher whose finances are in shambles and they have not stewarded their income over decades as they should?
I rest my case. The microphone drops from my hand.
The 4F’s…focusing on them weekly and daily can change the course of not only Your life and my life…but our childrens and grand children’s lives.
Make it a great day.
